Vocal Solos

Solo singing classes are available for all adult voices, as well as for girls and boys. There are separate classes in opera, oratorio and recital for music students or graduates and for amateur singers, so that performers can compete on an equal footing. In addition there are classes for lieder and art song, folk song, light operatic & musicals, sacred song and vocal duets.

Cups and Prizes

Rive Gauche Cup:  for the most outstanding vocal soloist (12 years and under)

Hope Cup:  for the most outstanding vocal soloist (13 - 15 years)

Tudor-Williams Cup:  for the most promising vocalist (16 years and under)

Bel Canto Cup:  for the most outstanding vocal soloist (16 years and over)

Festival Cup:  for the most promising vocalist in the Festival (Adjudicator’s choice)

The Trainer Trophy:  for the highest mark awarded in the Vocal Section

The Amber Cup for Young Voices:  for the highest mark awarded in Show Song classes aged 18 and under

The Atkins Folk Song Cup:  awarded for V21 or V22, whichever the adjudicator deems more deserving

The Folk Song Star:  for the highest mark awarded in the Folk song classes (V21, V22,V23)

Isobel Cooper Cup:  for the most outstanding vocalist in the Aria and Song Solo Classes (V29-V37)

Rotary Club of Marlow’s Prize of £50:  awarded for the most promising vocalist
