What to expect
If you are new to the Festival you would probably like to know what's going to happen.
Please arrive at the box office 10 minutes before your class. If you would like to have a warm up, arrive a little earlier and use our music warm-up room on the ground floor at Court Gardens (follow the signs).
Performers and accompanists are free to enter and there is a fee for adults and concessions, under 18's free. We encourge all your friends and family to come and watch you perform. Entry is also available to the general public.
Programmes will be on sale.
Once you are allowed to enter the theatre/hall, please take a seat and wait for your class to start. The Adjudicator will introduce themselves and the steward will check if everyone is present. You will be called up in the order of the programme.
Hand your music/drama score to the steward and progress to the stage.
Take your time and remember to adjust the piano stool to your requirements or music stand.
Indicate to the adjudicator that you are ready to start.
The adjudicator will make notes during your performance.
Once all the performers have performed their pieces, the adjudicator will give feedback. At the end of the feedback marks will be announced and medals will be awarded. We encourage you to stay and listen to other classes and some cups may be awarded after a few classes.
You will receive your comments page and a certificate with your mark. These will either be available at the back of the theatre/hall or at the box office.
Remember to enjoy yourself and take your time. Music and Drama are performed and listened to for pleasure and we want you to have best experience.
Note that no photography, recording or filming is allowed during festival sessions
